Former LFC owner David Moores is recovering in hospital after being attacked by two masked men who broke into his home near Southport.

Former LFC owner David Moores is recovering in hospital after being attacked by two masked men who broke into his home near Southport.

The 69 year old suffered injuries to his head and leg after the incident at his home in Halsall last night. Police said that the two crooks made demands for cash and jewellery after storming their way into the house and then made off with jewellery and watches

He's currently being treated at Aintree Hospital.

DI Marc Nasser said: “We believe this was an isolated, targeted attack and I would like to reassure local residents that we have stepped up patrols in the area.

“The investigation is still in its early stages but if you have any information that could assist us, please do get in touch.”

Mr Moores was the club's chairman from 1991 to 2007 - until he sold LFC to Americans Tom Hicks and George Gillett in 2007 and is the honourary life president at Anfield. .
