23-year old Daniel Birch died in Coppull on Mother's Day in 2012 after crashing his car whilst being three times over the limit.

His mum, Helen has been urging students in Lancashire today not to make the same mistak, by showing teenagers Daniel's smashed up car.

Chair of the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety executive board Lancashire Constabulary’s Assistant Chief Constable Tim Jacques said: “Over the last five years fewer people have been killed or seriously injured on the Lancashire’s roads. However, we are not complacent and poor driver behaviour is clearly one of the main causes.

“Last year alone, 336 people aged between 16 and 18 were injured on Lancashire’s roads, which is why this production is so important. We want to change attitudes towards risk taking behaviour and ultimately encourage safer driving.

“It’s an emotional, hard hitting production that seeks to jolt people into considering the full facts and potential consequences of careless driving and is specifically aimed at new drivers.”
