Police appeal after elderly man has £400 stolen in Blackpool

A man offered to carry his shopping before stealing the money from his pocket

Police have released CCTV images of a man they'd like to speak to in connection with a theft in Blackpool which left an elderly man £400 worse off.

The victim, a man in his 80s, was outside the Tesco Express on Whitegate Drive on the afternoon of the 29th April, when he was approached by a man who offered to carry his shopping bags for him.

Whilst on Reads Avenue, the man has returned the shopping bags, hugged the victim and taken £400 from his top shirt pocket.

In a statement online, Lancashire Police said:

"We have carried out a number of enquiries, and we now need to speak to the man in the CCTV still as we believe that he can help us with our enquiries. If you know who he is, please call us on 101, quoting the log number 0700 of the 29th April."
