Boy charged with attempted murder following Leyland stabbing

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Leyland.

The emergency services were called to Leyland Road at 7:38pm on Friday 21 April to reports of a stabbing.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was found with injuries to his head and body.

He was treated for life-changing injuries in hospital.

The 16-year-old, who is from Bootle and can't be named for legal reasons, has been charged following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

He's due to appear before Preston Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday 27 April).

An 18-year-old man from Leyland, who was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Lancashire Police said:

"We are continuing to appeal for witnesses who saw anything suspicious and anybody with mobile phone, CCTV or dashcam footage which could assist our enquiries to come forward.

"We are particularly interested in the streets in around The Spar in Leyland Lane and the Broadfield Drive area of Leyland between 7pm and 8.30pm."
