Police say at least some bones found on a beach in Morecambe Bay are human.

Emergency services were called to Silverdale beach at around 4pm on Sunday after the discovery in the water, and Lancashire Police say they had been in the sea for a "prolonged period".

In a further update, the force has confirmed more searches are taking place across the entire area, and could take some time. The force said: "After the discovery of human remains in #MorecambeBay over the weekend, specialist search officers have been conducting further searches near Silverdale."

They have also thanked the Coastguard and and Bay Search & Rescue for their help.
