There has been a further update from the current owner of Morecambe Football Club.

Bond Group says it's 'aware that there is much ongoing speculation around the sale of the club'

In a statement Bond Group says 'a take-over deal is near completion with a consortium of individuals'.

It goes on to claim that recent speculation about the buyer's identity has not been correctly ascertained.

Jason Whittingham says:

"The buyers have funds available to bring payments for the club up to date and we are working to conclude the transaction as quickly as possible.

"We will issue a further update shortly".

On the 9th July the Bond group previously released a statement which said a UK buyer had put in a last minute bid for the club.

It comes amid weeks of turmoil for the club.

The Shrimps Trust says it has met recently with members of the FA Football Operations team to talk about the situation.

Panjab Warriors were due to complete the sale of the club earlier this month.

Yesterday the Trust said any home fixture will be played behind closed doors. It says staff remain unpaid.
