Blackpool Winter Gardens reaches Covid vaccination milestone
50,000 vaccinations have now been done at the iconic venue
Around 50,000 Covid-19 vaccinations have now been done at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.
Health bosses said over 200,000 vaccinations have now been done across the Fylde Coast and over a MILLION across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
It's as the iconic entertainment venue is due to close in the coming weeks as a mass vaccination centre and return to its original form hosting shows and events.
Jane Scattergood, Covid-19 Vaccination Director for Lancashire and South Cumbria, said she's incredibly proud of the effort vaccinators have gone to: "These people are actually saving lives, they're saving lives by protecting people from getting really sick, but they're also helping us all move out of restrictions as a nation and across the globe.

"The volunteers as well, we couldn't manage access to the centre in as safe and socially distanced way without people volunteering to stand in freezing carparks in January and February and they were all immense and we couldn't have done it without them.
"It's been very rewarding immunising people who've been living under fear for 12 months or more, who couldn't see their grandchildren in the early days.
"People who came forward for their vaccine cried when they got it, with relief, and it was really rewarding for all the nurses, doctors, pharmacists, everyone that's made a contribution."
