Blackpool is hosting a range of celebrations to commemorate the Kings Coronation by the sea.

The historic event will be marked with everything from a picnic to a parade and free entertainment down on the seafront.

Here's what's going on today.

Heritage Tram Parade

This afternoon a number of trams from the heritage fleet will travel in convoy from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, down the seafront to Little Bispham.

The event, which is in association with Blackpool Transport will feature open top, single and double deckers, and the famous illuminations trams.

Tickets to ride on the trams are on sale now from Blackpool Transport.

The Big Comedy Carpet Coronation Lunch

From 3pm The Big Comedy Coronation Lunch, opposite The Blackpool Tower, will be hosted by the town's own Hayley Kay.

Take advantage of on-site food huts serving a variety of food or bring your own take a seat and enjoy the show.

Alongside the entertainment, there will be fun activities and competitions for children.

Evening Entertainment and Light Show

From 8pm there will be a free live screening of the Coronation Concert on the Tower Festival Headland.

The steam of the concert at Windsor Castle will be specially-lit by bespoke illuminations. And for the first ever time, The Blackpool Tower and the Golden Mile section of the Illuminations will be choreographed together in one light show.

With Blackpool featuring in the BBC's Light Up the Nation event, 2000 LED wristbands linked to the lightshow will be given out on the night to the audience on the Tower Festival Headland.
