A 17-year-old cancer survivor from Blackburn, has been invited to attend the King's Coronation for his outstanding services to the community.

Sahil Usman was diagnosed with leukaemia at the tender age of 13 but didn't let the disease deter him from making a difference in his community.

When Sahil was first allowed out of hospital he encouraged his mum to go out and buy Christmas gifts for all the children on his ward that would not be able to spend the festive period at home.

While still battling the disease at the age of 15, Sahil decided to help the vulnerable people in his community during the Covid-19 pandemic by creating gift hampers.

His selfless act earned him the High Sheriff's Young Citizen Award in 2019, the Diana Award, and the British Empire Medal in the New Year Honours List in 2022.

Sahil, who attends Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Sixth Form, is taking time away from his revision to attend the celebration in Westminster.

Sahil's latest goal is to raise as much money as possible for people living with cancer in countries with fewer resources and less advanced health care.
