Emergency crews were called out to an address of Ouseburn Road on Monday evening where they found the 49-year old victim with facial injuries, she was rushed to hospital
A 55-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of section 18 assault/attempted murder.
Police now charged 55-year old Ian Gresham of New Wellington Road, Blackburn, with attempted murder. He was due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court this morning.
Police would like to reassure residents that while enquiries are on-going, this is being treated as an isolated incident.
