Woman in 70s dies after being hit by bin lorry in Preston

A woman in her 70s had died after being hit by a bin lorry near Preston.
A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
Emergency services were called to Trinity Close in Freckleton yesterday morning (16th December).
There were reports a pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, had been hit by a bin lorry.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for around six hours.
Detective Sergeant Matt Davidson, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This collision has very sadly resulted in a woman losing her life and my thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this time. I would appeal for anyone who saw what happened or who has any footage and who hasn’t yet spoken to police to come forward and contact us.”
