An investigation has been launched after an alleged armed robbery in Blackpool.

It's reported that two masked men carrying weapons went into Cash Converters in Church Street yesterday morning (Wednesday 19 October), threatened staff and ran off with jewellery.

Police, who were called to the scene at around 9:45am, think the two men ran through the town centre after leaving the shop.

A 26-year-old man from Ashton-under-Lyne has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, but detectives are still appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

No injuries have been reported.
