The Alton Towers rollercoaster that's been closed since it crashed, injuring five people -including a young woman from Lancashire - is going to re-open later this month.

Vicky Balch - who's now 21 - from Leyland had to have a leg amputated following the accident last June.

The Smiler will be back for the start of the theme park's new season on the 19th March.

It's been closed since the accident and will re-open for the first time since the incident later this month.

Last week it was announced that Alton Towers owner, Merlin, is to be prosecuted over the crash.

The Health and Safety Executive said Merlin Attractions will appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 22nd April to face a charge under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
