The owner of Alton Towers is going to be prosecuted over the rollercoaster crash during which a Lancashire woman was injured.
The owner of Alton Towers will be prosecuted following the rollercoaster crash during which a Lancashire woman was injured.
Vicky Balch, who's now 21 and from Leyland, is one of five people who were hurt when The Smiler crashed in June 2015.
Ms Balch and another young woman each had to have one leg amputated.
In a statement, The Health and Safety Executive said:
"We have today informed Merlin Attractions Operations Ltd that it will be prosecuted for allegedly breaching health and safety law.
"This was a serious incident with life changing consequences for five people.
"We have conducted a very thorough investigation and consider that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to bring a prosecution"
In November, Merlin admitted the crash was caused by human error.
