Thousands of student across Lancashire and the country will be getting their a-level results this morning.

People are being advised to prepare, in case they don't get the results they want.

A report from the NSPCC has found 9 in 10 teachers believe their students overly worry about results.

Principal of Burnley College Karen Buchanan says it is a special day: "It's not just seeing the looks on the young people's faces when they open their results, but the pride of the parents standing behind them getting really excited.

"And us being able to be there with them when we know they are going to achieve the dreams that they've set for themselves."

Ian McGee from Burnley College, has this advice for parents for the big day: "From a parent point-of-view it's a case of come in, enjoy it, celebrate your sons and daughters.

"Its all about embracing what their child has done."

Ian added: "We tend to see that students really want their loved ones with them, and they are the people they really want to celebrate with."

"Be wise, be sensible, you need to be quick but at the same time don't jump into anything because you are worried.

Regarding parents, Chris said it is important to give children their space as they navigate their next steps: "Don't put added pressure on them, let them do some research, let them talk to Universities, let them talk to counsellors, guidance teachers, because those are the people who really know how the system works and they will be able to advise."

A lot of students now receive their results online, but Chris re-assures students teachers are there for them in-person if they need extra support: "What you don't want is the students to feel they are all alone because they're not.
