9 year old boy dies following collision in Blackburn

Police are appealing for witnesses

There's an appeal for information after a nine year old boy sadly died following a collision in Blackburn.

At 10.55pm on Thursday, August 4 a white BMW 4 Series was travelling along Whalley New Road when it was involved in a collision with a nine year old boy who was crossing the road.

The boy suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

The driver of the BMW, a 25 year old man from Blackburn, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

PS David Hurst of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident where a young boy has sadly died and my thoughts very much remain with his family at this time. An investigation into the collision is underway and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision to contact us as soon as possible.”
