More than £3,000 has been raised for the funeral of a Preston man who died in a dog attack.

22-year old Liam Hewitson died at his home in Fishwick after being attacked by his dog on New Year's Day.

He was having an epileptic fit at the time.

Liam's friends and family have now set up a fundraising page to collect money for his funeral - which is due to be held next week.

A statement, released via Preston Police on behalf of Liam’s family, paid tribute to their son lost in what police are describing as a ‘tragic accident’.

His family said: “Liam was a happy lad who was always smiling and had lots of friends. He had a beautiful personality and he will be missed by his dad Phil, girlfriend Jess and sisters Melissa and Aleisha and brother Cordell.

“The family have asked to be given some privacy as they have been through a truly horrific experience and they are all still very much in shock.”
