14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of raping girl in Leigh has been bailed

Police say there's no wider threat to the public

A 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl in Wigan has been bailed.

Between 4pm and 5.30pm on Thursday 22 April 2021 the girl, aged 14, was walking on open land to the south of Westleigh Park, Leigh, when she was approached by a male.

The male pulled her into some bushes before raping her.

A team of detectives continues to progress the investigation and an increased police presence will remain in the Westleigh Park area over the coming days.

There is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.
