A house party in Chorley with around 50 people was broken up by police this weekend.

Officers were called to reports of a house party on Scawfell Road in the late hours of Friday evening (9th April).

They found the party in full swing with an estimate of over 50 people, mostly teenager, in attendance.

It's an address officers say has been a problem for neighbours throughout the pandemic and have thanked them for their patience in a post on social media.

The occupant of the property has been hit with a £10k covid fine.

Elsewhere, police in St Helens are urging parents to "know where your children are".

It comes as community officers dealt with a large number of young people who had gathered around Sutton and Sherdley Park.

They were reportedly drinking alcohol and generally being a nuisance to the local residents nearby.

Their parents were handed £200 fines for breaches of the Health Regulations Act.

In a post on social media, officers said:

"St Helens...COVID has not disappeared. Know where your children are."
