2017 was a massive year for actress Lucy Fallon after her Coronation Street character Bethany Platt was involved in one of the most shocking storylines in soapland.

Lucy found her character Bethany being groomed by her older boyfriend Nathan Curtis, before the storyline came to an end when he stood trial and was found guilty.

A few months on, Lucy's character now finds herself at the centre of a new storyline, which sees her working at a lap-dancing club.

After a number of viewers of the soap expressed their concern at the recent storyline, Lucy appeared on This Morning alongside her co-star Rob Mallard to reveal her thoughts.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Lucy said, "It would have been really unrealistic for Corrie to just leave the storyline and move on and make Bethany really happy, but working in a lap dancing place is her journey and it’s up for debate."

As Phillip revealed Bethany's family take a trip to the club thinking it was her day off, things get awkward when Bethany comes out and gives a performance to them.

Revealing the awkward moment, Lucy told the hosts, "It’s hilarious when her family come to watch. They may or may not get quite drunk as well. It’s a really good scene."

It seems things aren't about to get any easier for Lucy's on-screen character as she frames her mum's ex-boyfriend Gary Windass, leading him to get beaten up.

As Gary follows Bethany to the club and then proceeds in trying to drag her home, Bethany alerts the bouncers and has Gary, who is played by actor Mikey North, beaten up.

Coronation Street continues on ITV.
