Thank you to everyone who worked on our Edelweiss Appeal for the Royal Preston Hospital.

Through our work with the Royal Preston Hospital we met the amazing Chris and Gordon Hay who have become lifelong friends and have joined Cash for Kids Local Executive Board. Chris, in 1967, as a young mum of 22 sadly lost her beautiful daughter Vicki to an inoperable brain tumour. At the time there were no hospital family rooms or counselling for parents and Chris pledged that she would help other parents in the future.

Chris along with her wonderful husband Gordon and their family set up the Vicki Reardon Memorial Trust to do just that and donated money to Blackpool Hospital Children Ward and together we created The Edelweiss Appeal to help Royal Preston Hospital as Edelweiss was Vicki’s favourite song.

Together, through a variety of events including a Black Tie ball organised by Chris and Gordon we hit our target of £25,000 and then the hospital trust matched our donations meaning we could refurbish two suites that are now being used by children and families on a daily basis.
