Witnesses are sought after a teenager reported being raped in Chatham.

The victim was walking through Luton Recreation Ground near Ash Tree Lane between 7pm and 9pm on Sunday 28 July 2024 when she was approached by a man she did not know walking a dog.

It is alleged he made her walk to a nearby wooded area where the offence was committed.

The suspect is described as white with a bald head, in his 40s, and wearing an ‘England’ shirt and shorts. One of his arms was covered in a tattoo sleeve. The dog he was walking is described as small, and white with brown patches on.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Adam Marshall from Kent Police said: ‘Officers are in the area making further enquiries surrounding this incident so the community can expect to see an increased police presence.

‘We understand that this type of report can cause alarm to residents, but we want to reassure those living in the area that we are working as diligently as we can to gather all the details and to identify and apprehend the offender.

‘I would like to ask residents with private CCTV or doorbell footage, or drivers with dashcam footage, and who have not yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch.’
