Water tankers are being used to help restore supplies to households in Kent, as increased demand in the hot weather has seen taps run dry.

Around 4,000 homes in Whitstable, Seasalter and the surrounding areas were still experiencing no water or low pressure this morning.

In their latest statement, South East Water tell us they are not able to say when water supplies will be fully restored.

South East Water Incident Manager, Nick Bell, said: “We’re very sorry to customers in Whitstable, Seasalter and the surrounding areas who are still experiencing no water or low pressure today (Thursday, 3 July).

“We are using four tankers today (Thursday) to inject water directly into the network and this has helped to restore supplies for some customers in the area, but around 500 properties may still be experiencing intermittent supply.

“A bottled water station is open today (Thursday) at: Sainsbury's - Reeves Way, Chestfield, Whitstable, CT5 3QS for customers who may still need to collect bottled water due to issues with their mains supply.

“We are continuing to deliver bottled water to customers in the area on our Priority Services Register. This is a free service for those who need additional support, and details about what we offer and how to register can be found here: southeastwater.co.uk/priority."
