A 'violent offender' who attacked two men outside a business in Medway has been jailed.
Cyrese Moses was imprisoned following an investigation by Kent Police into the double assault, which took place near Rochester High Street on Friday 12 May 2023.
Officers were called shortly after 9.30am after Moses entered a shop carrying a weapon and chased a man from the building, before assaulting him with a brick. The victim sustained a minor injury to his hand.
A second man, known to the victim, was seriously assaulted by Moses before managing to flee and raise the alarm.
Police attended the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a 19-year-old man was treated for injuries consistent with stab wounds. He was taken to a London hospital for further treatment and was later discharged.
An arrest was made after Moses was detained in the street by his first victim - with assistance from passing members of the public – and a sword was seized and Moses was charged the following day.
The 22 year old pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and assault was jailed yesterday at Maidstone Crown Court and was given an extended sentence with a custodial period of five years and three months. On his release he will have to serve a further four years on licence.
Detective Constable Amy Jeffrey said: ‘Moses is a dangerous offender who subjected his victims to a terrifying ordeal. It is right that he has been given a custodial sentence.
"There is no place for violence on the streets of Kent and we will always strive to bring those who would carry out such acts to justice and I would particularly like to thank those members of the public who reacted quickly that day to assist the victims at the scene, and those whose evidence helped us secure Moses’ conviction and put a violent criminal behind bars."
