Two jailed after violent attack in Canterbury

Two men who violently attacked a man in Canterbury are starting almost four years in jail between them.

Kent Police say William Crump and Lawrence Cole set upon their victim armed with a baseball bat, at a home in Frencham Close in December.

He was kicked, punched and hit with a bat during the violent assault and was treated in hospital.

Investigating officers charged William Crump, of Frencham Close, Canterbury in connection with the assault.

Lawrence Cole, of The Avenue, Hersden, was also later charged.

Both men were known to the victim.

Crump was jailed for two years and one month, while Cole was sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison.

Detective Constable Paul Sharp said:

"These violent offenders subjected their victim to a sustained and terrifying physical ordeal, the consequences of which could have been life-changing."
