A man and a woman have been arrested following a serious crash on the M25.

Surrey Police say emergency services were called out shortly before 4am today (13 May) following a collision between an HGV and a road sweeper between J6 and J5 on the anticlockwise carriageway.

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The anticlockwise carriageway remains shut this afternoon between junctions 6 and 5 and these closures are likely to remain in place for several hours. Drivers are being asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Delays are affecting thousands of motorists heading to the Port of Dover and the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkstone

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision.
