Teenager hit by car outside school in Broadstairs

A teenager has been hit by a car outside a school in Kent this morning (28 June).

Emergency services attended The Charles Dickens School in Broadstairs shortly after 8am to reports of a collision involving a young person.

Paramedics treated a young girl at the scene before they were airlifted to a hospital in London for further medical treatment.

In a statement South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "SECAmb were called shortly after 8am this morning to reports of a collision involving a young person and a car in Broadstairs Road.

"Crews arrived and assessed and treated one person at the scene before they were joined by the Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey, Sussex who airlifted the person to Kings College Hospital in London for further medical treatment."

Kent Police are currently investigating the incident.

A spokesperson said: "Kent Police is attending a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in Broadstairs Road, Broadstairs.

"Officers were called to the scene at 8.19am on Friday 28 June 2024. The South East Coast Ambulance Service is also in attendance.

"A teenage girl sustained an injury and has been taken to a London hospital via helicopter.

"The road currently remains closed while enquiries into the collision are ongoing."
