Suspected burglar impersonated police officer in Tunbridge Wells
A 90-year-old woman was confronted by the man who had been upstairs in her house
Investigators are seeking dashcam footage and witnesses after a suspected burglar impersonated a police officer at an elderly lady’s home in Tunbridge Wells.
The incident happened at around 5pm on Thursday 11 April 2024 at an address in Eridge Road, near Broadwater Lane. A 90-year-old homeowner heard the intruder upstairs after returning to the house from her front garden.
When confronted, it is alleged the man claimed he was a police officer before leaving the property empty-handed. Investigators are now seeking help to identify the suspect.
Description
The man is described as white and around five feet five inches tall, with an average build and short dark hair. He is thought to be in his 30s and may have a front tooth missing at the top. He was wearing dark coloured trousers and a white, short-sleeved, round-necked t-shirt, which was described as dirty, at the time of the incident.
Appeal
Nearby residents, with doorbell cameras or CCTV, are asked to check for any important footage. Drivers who may have been in area are also urged to review any dashcams.
