Suspect charged with murder of Tunbridge Wells man

His body was found in East Sussex on Wednesday

A suspect had been charged with the murder of a man from Tunbridge Wells.

Wayne Woodgate, 54, had been reported missing on Thursday 17 October 2024, when he was last seen in the Goods Station Road area of the town.

On Wednesday 23 October, an investigation into his disappearance led officers to a rural location in Peasmarsh, East Sussex, where a body was located and which has been identified as Mr Woodgate.

Charged

Stephen Castle, 59, of Hastings Road, Matfield was arrested on the previous day.

On the evening of Thursday 24 October, he was charged with murder and remanded in custody.

He will appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
