Suspect arrested on suspicion of rape in Maidstone

A suspect has been arrested in connection with an allegation of rape in Maidstone.

Officers have been investigating a report that a woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man, at a location near the Lockmeadow leisure complex.

The incident is reported to have happened during the evening of Monday 2 September 2024, before the suspect left the scene on foot in the direction of the Millennium Bridge.

On Wednesday 4 September, enquiries led to the arrest of a 37-year-old local man on suspicion of rape. He was detained at 6.55pm and taken into custody.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information which may assist the investigation.
