South East Water updates Tunbridge Wells residents on continued supply issues
Bottled water stations remain open as network problems persist
South East Water has issued an update to residents of Tunbridge Wells stating it's " very unlikely" customers still without water in Tunbridge Wells will have it restored today.
That's after promising to have it restored by 8:00am on 2 December.
Incident Manager Matthew Dean said, “After recharging the network slowly through the day, we have seen a recurrence of the water quality issues that caused the initial water treatment shutdown."
"This means that we are currently very unlikely to be able to reintroduce supply to those customers that are still without water.”
Bottled water stations remain open at the following locations:
Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre, St John's Rd, Royal Tunbridge Wells TN4 9TX
RCP Parking, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 5TP
Odeon Cinema Knights Way, Tunbridge Wells TN2 3UW
South East Water has confirmed that more than 2,000 vulnerable customers on their Priority Services Register are being delivered bottled water via their customer care team and Water Direct. Residents needing extra support can sign up for the register at southeastwater.co.uk/psr .
Efforts to manage the crisis are ongoing, with tankering of over 6.5 million litres of water into the town to help keep some properties supplied. More than 400,000 litres of bottled water have also been distributed.
Dean added, “We are continuing to move water around our network and are working tirelessly to address the issues. Updates and additional information will remain available on our dedicated website at Aqualerter .”
Residents are asked to continue checking the South East Water website for the latest updates on bottled water stations and progress towards restoring supplies.
