A dispersal order's in place in parts of Sheerness following recent reports of anti-social behaviour.

Kent Police say they've seen an increase in reports in areas including Marine Parade, The Broadway and Trinity Road.

Areas between these roads, along with Beach Street and the High Street, are subject to the disepersal order.

It gives officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance, and arrest those who return to the area once they have been dispersed.

The order came into force at midday on Tuesday, and runs until 12pm on Thursday.

Inspector Vanessa Foster, from Swale’s Community Safety Unit said:

"We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors feel safe and confident when out and about and we will not tolerate intimidating or nuisance behaviour.

"Officers will be patrolling the area, and anyone found causing a nuisance will be required to leave. Those that chose to return once dispersed can expect to be detained."

Kent Police are asking anyone who wishes to report incidents of anti-social behaviour to do so online, or to call 999 if a crime is in progress.
