Santander to close three branches in Kent
The high street lender announced it would be shutting 95 of it's branches across the U.K.
Santander is set to close three of its branches in Kent.
Herne Bay and Tenterden will lose their branches in July, while Dover will also be affected - but the date for that closure is yet yet been confirmed.
Today (Wednesday 19th March) the high street lender announced it would be shutting 95 of it's branches across the U.K. - putting 750 jobs at risk and leaving the Spanish-owned bank with 349 branches.
It will also cut the hours of 36 sites, and switch 18 to counter-free.
Following the announcement, 19 new banking hubs have been recommended by cash access network Link, with two in Dover and Tonbridge.
A banking hub is similar to a traditional bank branch, but the space is shared by multiple banks.
Hubs have a counter service operated by Post Office employees, where customers of any bank can withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments and carry out regular banking transactions.
There are also private spaces where customers can speak to community bankers from their own bank for more complicated matters that require specialist knowledge or privacy.
Banks work on a rotating basis, so staff from different providers are available on different days.
