A suspected van thief was tracked down and arrested within 30 minutes of the victim reporting the incident in Rochester.

Kent Police was called at 1pm on Thursday (10th October) by a delivery driver to report that, whilst parked in Invicta Drive, an unknown person had stolen her van, containing a number of parcels.

Officers attended and, following an area search, located a man matching the description of the suspect just 30 minutes later in Knights Road.

The stolen van was also located in nearby Marley Road, still containing all the parcels.

Police dog Boris was also deployed and tracked down the victim’s mobile phone in a nearby bush.

A 24 year old man from Rochester was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and drug driving.

He has since been bailed while enquiries continue.
