Cause of hay bale fire near Rochester being treated as 'suspicious'
2,000 tonnes of hay bales were destroyed
Fire crews say they are treating the cause of a hay bale fire near Rochester as "suspicious."
Kent Fire & Rescue Service were called to Rye Street, Cliffe, in the early hours of Monday.
Three fire engines and a telehandler attended, and people in the area were asked to keep doors and windows closed.
2,000 tonnes of hay bales were destroyed in the fire.
No injuries have been reported.
