Recycling centre blaze sparks call to keep windows closed in Sheerness
Four fire engines were sent to the commercial premises in Garrison Road yesterday.
Residents close to the scene of an industrial fire in Sheerness were told to keep their windows and doors closed as flames broke out yesterday (Saturday 17th February).
Four fire appliances were sent to Garrison Road after smoke was seen emerging from a metal recycling centre, with Kent Fire Control also mobilising a water tender and a technical rescue unit.
No injuries have been reported but the fire service released an update at 8pm revealing it was still working to extinguish the blaze using hose reel jets and main hoses.
It's not currently known how the fire started.
