Second person dies after van crashes into lorry in Kent

Officers are renewing their appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision

A second person has died after a van crashed into a lorry on the A2 in Cobham.

Police say they were called to the coastbound carriage way at around 16:15 on the 31 May.

The driver of the lorry received minor injuries, however the driver of the van, a 50-year-old man died at the scene.

The passenger, a 20-year-old man received serious injuries and was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance but he has since died.

The next of kin for both victims have been informed.

The force say two lorries were parked on the hard shoulder, when for unknown reasons a white Mercedes Sprinter van collided with one of the lorries.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are renewing their appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand to come forward.
