Police officer 'attacked with spear' in Tunbridge Wells

A man has been charged over allegations of attempting to assault a police officer with a spear in Tunbridge Wells.

Kent Police say the suspect 'lunged' at the officer with the weapon at a property near Upper Grosvenor Road last Saturday (March 2nd).

Police were called to reports of a disturbance there at around 4.30pm.

Patrols attended the scene where it is reported a suspect lunged towards an officer with a spear.

33-year-old Rowan Beversluis, of Derwent Road, Tonbridge, was arrested and later charged with possession of an offensive weapon and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was further charged with false imprisonment, two counts of assault by beating, making threats to kill, and criminal damage.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday (March 4th) and has since been bailed to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on April 2nd.
