Detectives are investigating reported assaults in Margate where a substance was sprayed at a group of people.

Shortly before 1.15am on Saturday 9 November 2024, police were called to a disturbance in Mansion Street, which runs between Fort Road and The Parade.

During the incident, a man reportedly sprayed others with a liquid, believed to have been a strong alkali, causing four people to suffer reddening and irritation to their faces or chest.

A bottle believed to have contained the substance used has been seized.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and police have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist enquiries.
