Several people treated for smoke inhalation after fire in Rochester
Four fire engines attended the tumble dryer fire at a Rochester flat
Three people are continuing to recover from smoke inhalation after a fire in a Rochester flat.
Four fire engines were called to the blaze in Cuxton Road yesterday afternoon (3 June).
It is believed to have started in a tumble drier.
Three people were treated at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service after suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
A spokesperson for the fire service has now issued this advice: "Before using a tumble dryer or any similar appliance, such as a dishwasher or washing machine, make sure they are good working order and maintained as instructed in the manufacturer’s guidelines.
"Only run cycles when you’re home and awake and remember to have a working smoke alarm on each floor of your property."
