Over 30 homes still without water in Strood as outage reaches fourth day
We're told teams are working 24/7 to find and fix the problem
35 houses in Strood are still without water, after a water main burst and left 1,000 homes with no supply on Christmas Eve.
Southern Water tell us they are still trying to 'locate and fix' the underground leak that has meant people have been unable to shower or flush the toilet, and has forced businesses to close during the busiest time of year.
On the first day of the outage, the supplier said: "We have delivered bottled water to affected customers and have taken swift action to reroute water around our network and positioned water tankers in the area to directly support supplies.”
We're told teams have been working 24/7 to solve the ongoing problem, and in an updated statement a spokesperson said:
"We’re very sorry to our customers in Strood for the ongoing disruption.
While we have managed to restore supplies to the majority of properties , at present we have 35 properties without water.
We have arranged further bottled water deliveries for our domestic customers still without water.
We will continue to redirect water and work 24/7 to locate and fix the underground leak.”
