Kent Police have appealed for information after a woman was hit by a car as she walked her dog in Margate.

Officers were alerted to the incident in Giles Gardens in Margate just after 3:50pm on Friday afternoon (October 25th).

When responders arrived at the scene, they found the woman - who had been seriously injured - as well as her dog.

Emergency services treated the woman at the scene for her injuries before taking her to hospital for further inspection. The dog was taken to a local vet to be checked over.

Investigations were launched shortly afterwards, with the driver of the car - a man in his 30s from Ramsgate - being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, as well as driving whilst unfit.

The man was taken into police custody by officers and questioned for his role in the incident, before being bailed.

He will have to return to police custody under the conditions of his bail, should further information and evidence be required.

Meanwhile, police are now asking the public to come forward with any information they may have relating to the incident.

Those who may have any information or may have been in the area at the time of the incident are being urged to contact Kent police by calling 01843 222 289, quoting incident reference number 25-0904.
