A man has suffered a leg injury after another man fired a crossbow at him in Gillingham.

Police say the victim was in Victoria Street on Thursday 8 February 2024 when he was approached by a man who is reported to have fired a small, black crossbow towards the victim’s leg.

The offender then left the area and the victim made his way to a nearby address where an ambulance was called.

He was taken to a local hospital and has since been discharged.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and more information.

PC Stuart Drakeley of Swale’s Criminal Investigation Department said:

‘We do believe that the offender will have been walking in the area and it is likely that the crossbow would have been visible as it was too big to conceal in a bag.

"We also believe that the suspect and victim are known to each other.

‘We want to talk to anyone with information who might have been in the area between 3pm and 7pm. Anyone with CCTV footage or dashcam footage should also contact us".
