A man from Sittingbourne remains in police custody after being accused of multiple high-value shopping offences in Swale.

Officers say Jason Bowers stole from several stores in Sittingbourne and Sheerness throughout May, with more than £1000 worth of stock taken.

Businesses targeted included Asda, Superdrug, Peacocks and Poundland.

Amongst the property allegedly stolen were medicinal products, cosmetics, clothing, cleaning items and confectionary.

Bowers, of London Road, was later charged by investigators from the Swale Victim Based Crime Team, with eight counts of theft.

The 52-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to a hearing at the same court on Wednesday 12 June.
