Man charged in connection with Strood assault

A man suffered suspected stab wounds after reports of a disturbance in Strood

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Strood have charged a suspect.

Kent Police was called to a report of a disturbance at a property in the High Street, at around 11.40pm on Sunday 6 October 2024.

A short time later patrols were called to Medway Hospital after a man in his 20s arrived with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

He was taken to a London hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

An investigation was commenced into the incident and, on Wednesday 16 October, a suspect was arrested in Northampton.

Officers also seized a quantity of cannabis.

Raphael Wally, of Wateridge Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, was later charged with wounding with intent and possessing class B drugs with intent to supply.

Mr Wally, 20, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday 11 November.

In connection with the investigation, officers also detained a man on Monday 7 October.

Callum Clements, of Keary Road, Swanscombe, was later charged with aggravated burglary.

The 26-year-old appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 16 October.

He was remanded to the same crown court hearing as Mr Wally.

A third suspect was arrested by officers on Thursday 24 October.

The 20-year-old man from London remains in police custody.
