Man charged in connection with an alleged arson near Deal

A man has been charged in connection with an alleged arson near Deal.

Kent Police was contacted by Kent Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 6pm on Sunday 29 October 2023, following a fire at a stables in The Street, Worth.

It was extinguished with no injuries reported.

Paul Goodwin, 33, of Dover, was arrested and charged with arson.

He was also charged with stalking, a public order offence and sharing images with intent to cause distress.

Police are now appealing for any information as they continue to investigate the incident.

They are looking to trace a silver 2004 five-door Vauxhall Astra with a private registration plate, which was seen in the area around that time and may still be parked nearby.

Anyone with information about the car’s location or who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the A258 Deal Road, Coventon Lane or The Street in Worth between 4.30pm and 8.30pm on Sunday 29 October are urged to get in touch with Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/193314/23.
