Man charged in connection with stabbing in Chatham

A man in his 20's was found injured in Chatham Hill on Sunday afternoon

A man's been charged following a report of a serious assault in Chatham.

Patrols were called to an injured man in Chatham Hill at 1.55pm on Sunday (20 April).

Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where the victim, who is in his 20s, was treated for injuries consistent with stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention and has since been discharged.

Later the same day, a car was stopped in Gravesend and two men were arrested in connection with the incident.

Djorn Anderson, of Longwood Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire was later charged with wounding with intent. He was also charged with driving whilst disqualified, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. The 22-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 22 April).

A second man, aged 22 and from London, remains in custody while the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:

"We're urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to us to contact us. Drivers with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for relevant footage."
