Man charged after series of arson attacks in Folkestone and Hythe
He's also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life
A man's been charged in connection with a series of vehicle fires in Folkestone and Hythe.
Between 2am and 3.30am on Friday 11 April, reports were made that six cars had been found alight in Canterbury Road, Walton Road, Military Road, and Enbrook Valley as well as Whitenbrook in Hythe.
Michael Harragan, 54, of Gladstone Road, Folkestone, was arrested and charged with arson with intent to endanger life, arson in relation to six vehicles, drink driving, and assault of an emergency worker.
He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 12 April.
After a report was received by officers that the owner of a campervan had been sleeping inside her vehicle in Sandgate and woke to find it alight on 11 April, a further charge of arson with intent to endanger life was authorised against Mr Harragan.
He attended court on 14 April in relation to this charge and was remanded.
The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 12 May.
