Man arrested in Margate on suspicion of assault and harassment

Police responded after calls from members of the public

Kent Police are investigating a report of racial abuse that took place in Margate.

It was reported that a man was shouting racist abuse at members of the public on Northdown Road, Margate, at 5pm on Saturday (6 September).

Officers arrived at the scene within 25 minutes of the initial report and arrested a 43-year-old man from the local area on suspicion of assault and harassment.

He has since been bailed pending further investigation.

The victim left the scene before police attendance, but officers are keen to locate them to ensure their welfare and to progress enquiries.
