Man arrested after woman bitten by dog in Gillingham

A dog has been seized by police in Kent after a woman was bitten on her hand.
Police were called to the incident shortly before 2pm on Saturday 31 May. A woman was walking along Junction Road near to Napier Road and paused to stop.
She was approached by a dog, believed to be a large breed with black fur. It is reported that the dog bit the woman’s hand, causing serious injury. It is unclear whether the dog’s owner was present.
Officers attended along with paramedics and the woman was taken to a West Sussex hospital, from where she was later discharged to continue her recovery.
Enquiries were carried out and later that day, a 57 year old man was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. He has since been bailed.
A dog was also seized.
The investigation is ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with relevant information, including CCTV or dashcam, to come forward.
